T06.94 Fish farming for reincorporation and community development

Fish farming for reincorporation and community development

Support the socio-economic inclusion of people in the process of reincorporation through the strengthening of fish production initiatives in 7 territorial nodes.

Implementation period
From 09/Sep/2021 To 08/Sep/2024

General Description

The Fish farming for reincorporation project contributes to the socio-economic inclusion of people in the process of reincorporation as dynamic agents of territorial development and to the performance and functionality of ECOMUN through the strengthening of fish production initiatives in 7 development nodes constituted as follows: Caribbean Node, North-East Node, South-West Node, North-West Node, East Node, South Node and Central Node. Each fish production network is implemented through local cooperatives united in a sectoral fish federation, which in turn are linked to ECOMUN.

The project seeks to strengthen the processes of production, transformation and commercialisation, as well as the organisational capacities of the territorial cooperatives and ECOMUN, promoting the participation of different communities (peasants, Afro, victims, and people in the process of reincorporation), institutions, academia and private agents, under an inclusive approach with emphasis on gender, ethnic and differential inclusion in relation to the situation of diverse capacities.

Contribution to the Peace Accourds

The project contributes to the reincorporation of former FARC-EP members into civilian life, which is part of Point 3.2 of the Peace Agreement, through the following actions:

Reincorporation of the FARC-EP into civilian life in economic and social terms: the aim is to promote the economic-productive integration of the population that signed the Peace Agreement, through the strengthening and territorial linking of their fish production initiatives under solidarity economy models and the improvement of capacities to implement and manage these initiatives.

Objectives and Results

The general objective of the project is to contribute to the reincorporation process of former FARC-EP combatants through the development and implementation of a sustainable and profitable fish farming business model within the framework of the social economy. The specific objective is to manage and implement a fish production and marketing system as a contribution to the creation of a sustainable and profitable business model for ECOMUN and its associated cooperatives.

The expected results are:

  • Establish a fish production system with sustainability criteria.
  • Develop a marketing and commercialisation strategy for fish products within the framework of the solidarity economy.
  • Develop a comprehensive training programme for those in charge of each production unit to strengthen their technical and management skills in the fish farming business.
